UniTurn Revolving Door in Hotels

The Assignment

Provide an automatic entrance solution for the lobby of the Gaylord Palms Hotel and Conference Center in Orlando, Florida. The hotel’s signature architectural feature is a 4.5-acre enclosed glass atrium featuring several themed environments depicting popular Florida destinations like Key West and the Everglades.

The Challenge

• To create a comfortable, inviting indoor environment where the air temperature can be controlled despite the large atrium
• To compliment the architectural design of the hotel and enhance the aesthetics of the lobby, which recalls a grand Florida mansion
• To provide automatic door convenience for high volume pedestrian traffic
• To save energy
  

The Solution

A large Besam UniTurn was selected for its ability to handle a heavy traffic flow, provide substantial energy savings by preventing conditioned air loss, and keep the indoor temperature comfortable for guests and employees.

Besam delivered the UniTurn with a special champagne-colored finish that offsets the wrought iron work on the hotel walls. A custom mosaic floor not only surrounds the revolving door, but is also continues all the way through the entrance.
